My handsome boys, post haircut. … 27 weeks … Homemade ice-lollies (Smitten Kitchen recipe) … Nearly 28 weeks, going to the RSC … Exploring and adventuring at Compton Verney … Continue reading

Just, you know, things

I’ve just decided that I’m going to write a post once a week for as long as I can keep it up. And so, even though I have Freddie on my knee right now, I thought I should get started right away. We’ll see how long this lasts, but I’m already looking forward to it … Continue reading

Simple pleasures of late

As things have been a bit crazy recently (what with, you know, those small life changes like starting a new job and buying our first house an’ all), I thought it might be nice to look back on some of the simple pleasures that I have enjoyed. Seeing my best friend, Lucie, in her wedding … Continue reading

Film reviews

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned to a colleague that there were a load of new DVDs in the library to hire (£2.50 for a week? Yes please!). She loves her films and so buys them regularly to watch again and again and she offered to lend me a load. The result is that … Continue reading

Westonbirt Arboretum

On bank holiday Monday, Tom and I drove down to Wiltshire, picked-up my Aunty Lynda and we all went for a day out at Westonbirt Arboretum. The place is basically just loads of trees. I mean, loads and LOADS of trees – it’s the National Arboretum, after all. If you don’t think that sounds interesting, … Continue reading

Simple things

After a weekend of illness, a frustrating morning at work and the realisation that buying a house has already cost us a LOT of money (I know, who would have thought it?), I’m feeling a little blue today. To perk myself up, here are a few things that have made me happy over the last … Continue reading

Waving the W flag

I thought you might like this picture of a little arrangement I ‘put together’ (!) on our mantel piece, especially if you liked my letters post. These little flags are from the Mexican restaurant Wahaca in London. I think you can guess why they went into my handbag… The postcard is from Paperchase and is … Continue reading

A book shelf: little things I love

Tom and I have lots of little bits and pieces dotted around the house that are mementos of holidays, great days out, occasions and gifts from friends and family. I try not to let these bits take over too much as I don’t want our house to look like a rubbish museum and also I … Continue reading

Snowshill Manor

Tom and used our National Trust membership a few weeks ago to meet-up with friends at Snowshill Manor, in Gloucestershire. It was back when we were having some sun – remember sun? No, me neither. Anyway, a really excellent house and gardens. We loved the miniature villages and the circus tent in which you can … Continue reading

Pink rose in a teacup

I saw this perfect pink rose blooming in our soon-to-be-no-longer garden and thought that I would enjoy it inside instead. One old Ikea teacup and a beautiful rose, sitting on our kitchen table. Simple pleasures to make me smile as I cook dinner. Hope you’ve had a happy Monday. I’m off to Zumba!
